Mees Hilgers is a Dutch-born centre-back who represents Indonesia and joins SC Heerenveen from FC Twente in summer 2026. He came through Twente's academy from the age of ten, made his Eredivisie debut against Ajax in December 2020 and went on to become a regular in their defence. A tall defender at 1.85m, he was a Netherlands U21 international before switching to Indonesia in 2024. A cruciate ligament injury in November 2025 marked his final season at Twente.
Played the full 90 minutes against Manchester United at Old Trafford in September 2024, reported as the first Indonesian to play in the Europa League.
Obtained Indonesian citizenship on 30 September 2024 and debuted for Indonesia on 10 October 2024 against Bahrain.
