Scouting Report & Player Insights
Matvey Safonov is a Russian goalkeeper who moved to Paris Saint-Germain from Krasnodar in 2024, primarily serving as understudy to Gianluigi Donnarumma. A capable shot-stopper with good reflexes and reasonable distribution, he had long been Russia's first-choice goalkeeper before his international appearances were curtailed by the team's suspension from FIFA competitions. His PSG minutes have been sparse, mostly limited to domestic cup and rotation appearances, leaving his true ceiling at the highest level still somewhat untested.
Signed for Paris Saint-Germain from FC Krasnodar in 2024.
