Gonzalo Villar is a Spanish central midfielder, born in Murcia, who is back at Elche, where he started out, after a six-month loan from Dinamo Zagreb became a permanent three-year deal in May 2026. He moved from Elche to Roma in January 2020 and has since played in La Liga, Serie A and Croatia, with loans at Getafe and Sampdoria and a spell at Granada. He works in the middle of the park with the ball and has one senior cap for Spain.
Made his Spain senior debut in a 4-0 friendly win over Lithuania in June 2021, with an under-21 squad.
